Actually, this might be great! The higher management is very likely load him with even more work. Many workplaces have a culture of rewarding a well-performing employee with even more work.

On the other hand, he might be setting himself up for failure. He can't go on performing at a 100%. Eventually, he's bound to face a burnout.

On the plus side, since he's so workaholic, he's going to pick up a large share of the team's work. Without him working here, all that work would have been divided among us and it would be painfully hectic for us.
