But I know that, although it's hard for them to come to terms with, if I give them time they will realise that they love me enough to let me be myself.

This is an opportunity for me to show them that I have to live my own life and that I do not need their validation.

But, if they really love me, they will accept me as I am eventually.

But if they can't accept me for who I am then I will be happier staying away from them and avoiding the conflict.

But I know that society is changing and that lots of people who used to think like my parents have realised that they were wrong to be prejudiced. I have hope that my parents will gain an understanding of why I have a right to be who I am.
