I still can't believe it! I lost my job. I had put years of working late into it. I made sacrifices for my career and I still got fired.

Although I got fired, I received the severance pay. That should help me survive until I find a new job.

I didn't enjoy that job anyway. It took up too much of my time. The next one might be better.

I can get more time to be with my family, get a little rest at home as I keep searching for a new job.

As I prepare for other job interviews, I can sharpen my skills needed for my job. I wasn't getting time for training while I was working that hectic shift. This situation gives me the perfect time needed to update my skills and get some training.

I might end up at a job where my skills are valued more than the how they were at the previous one.

I have learned a modern life lesson that what constitutes “work” is going to be a pieced-together series of short and medium length jobs and the more fluidly I can transition from one into the next, the more stable and confident I will be and this, in turn, will make me a desirable candidate for future roles. If I can develop the skills to go into a business and identify the crux of the problem that holds them back, I will have more work than I can handle and I will be able to choose the best opportunities for companies that I care about.
